Pre-ordering your book guarantees you that book. An extra bonus is sometimes, not always, but sometimes, some authors will have extra goodies with your pre-order. Additionally, you are not allowed to pick up books for others who do not have a ticket to the event. This is to ensure fairness to those who have purchased a ticket and to prevent authors from running out of books due to a large number of people picking up books for non-ticket holders.
